Mental health and wellbeing

Regardless of how much money or time you, or someone else, spends gambling, it can cause many feelings, including:

  • lack of self-worth
  • anxiety or depression
  • mood swings
  • problems sleeping

Relationships are a big part of our lives. Having strong relationships can make it easier to tackle gambling issues. It can also make a big difference to wellbeing.

To maintain healthy relationships and mental wellbeing you should try to prioritise:

  • your relationship with yourself
  • good communication with people around you
  • stress management
  • dealing with conflict

The charity Relate is the biggest provider of relationship support in England and Wales. They have:

  • centres across England and Wales
  • a group of licensed local counsellors that provide face-to-face and online support

We understand that everyone's journey with gambling is different. We're here to help and guide you towards specialist support services tailored to your situation.

We commission the National Gambling Support Network (NGSN). The NGSN is a group of organisations who provide free and confidential services to anyone affected by gambling.

This means that they support both:

  • people who are experiencing gambling harms
  • people who are affected by someone else’s gambling

Financial problems

Many people experience financial difficulties because of gambling. It can lead to issues like debt and not being able to pay rent, a mortgage or bills on time. Any of these issues can cause financial stress and worry.
